Souichiro Yamauchi Stratocaster Custom
The limited Fender Japan Souichiro Yamauchi Stratocaster Custom model is available from the official Fender Flagship store in Tokyo and comes with a hard case and a signed certificate.
Souichiro is known for his trademark Fiesta Red Stratocaster and so this is a bit of a departure from that model.
He is the vocalist and lead guitar player of the band Fuji Fabric and is a bit of a Fender fan. Apparently, he also loves his Telecasters and this model takes some inspiration from one of his favourites.
It has a selected ash body that has been hollowed out left and right, leaving the center part intact. Making this a very interesting signature model and potentially also a lightweight semi-hollow one.
This lightweight body has been paired with a one-piece quarter-sawn maple neck and a carefully selected rosewood fretboard. The neck has a custom Souichiro Yamauchi “U” neck profile design based on a 54-year-old Telecaster much loved by Soichiro Yamauchi.
This model also comes with a stunning White Satin nitrocellulose finish, for a more premium look.
Hardware includes the Pure Vintage 3-Saddle Tele bridge with three Brass Barrel Saddles and a set of vintage tuners. It has the Fujifabric Logo on the 4-bolt neck plate.
The pickups on this model include a CuNiFe Wide Range Humbucker mounted on the original aluminum machined plate and this is paired with a Custom Wired Vintage Style Single Coil Tele Bridge pickup.
It has a Master Volume, Master Tone, and a Direct Switch for neck pickup that sends it straight to the output, bypassing the standard switching.
The 3-Position Blade then offers Position 1. Bridge Pickup, Position 2. Bridge and Neck Pickups, and Position 3. Neck Pickup
MSRP – 396,000 yen
For fans, there is also some really interesting merchandise available with this release. Including a T-shirt and tote bag printed with illustrations of Soichiro Yamauchi’s new signature guitar.
