Electro-Harmonix has announced the arrival of the Oceans Abyss Advanced Reverb Laboratory, a groundbreaking pedal designed to be the ultimate ambient sound sculpting tool for guitarists and musicians. This powerhouse pedal centers around dual, independently programmable stereo reverb engines and a flexible architecture that allows users to craft intricate and breathtaking soundscapes.
Oceans Abyss Advanced Reverb Laboratory
The Oceans Abyss empowers musicians to layer and manipulate sound in unprecedented ways. Featuring ten distinct reverb algorithms, including lush Hall, classic Spring, ethereal Shimmer, and experimental Reverse and Resonant modes, each engine can be precisely panned across the stereo field for immersive spatial effects.

FX Blocks
But the sonic exploration doesn’t stop there. The Oceans Abyss goes far beyond reverb, offering a comprehensive suite of additional FX blocks that can be seamlessly integrated into a customizable signal path. Musicians can chain up to eight individual effects, choosing from:
- Versatile Delay: Digital, Analog, and Tape emulations offering a range of rhythmic possibilities.
- Modulation Magic: Chorus, Flanger, and Phaser to add swirling textures.
- Tone Shaping: Graphic EQ and Saturation for precise sonic sculpting.
- Creative Destruction: Bit Crusher for lo-fi and glitch effects.
- External Integration: Stereo FX Loop for incorporating external pedals.
- Level Control: Volume block for precise output adjustments.
- Dynamic Reverb: Reacts to playing dynamics.
- Auto-Infinite Reverb: Creates seamless, evolving drones.
- Polyphonic Reverb: Adds shimmering harmonic layers.

OLED
A key feature of the Oceans Abyss is its intuitive user interface, boasting a high-visibility OLED graphical display and illuminated controls. Navigating the pedal’s deep capabilities is made easy with a dedicated NavCoder knob and a clear menu system.
The display offers multiple graphical views, including a visual representation of the signal path, performance parameters, and settings.
Performance and connectivity are paramount. The Oceans Abyss features stereo audio input and output, as well as a stereo FX Loop on TRS jacks. Dual-action footswitches provide both momentary and latching control, and users can easily toggle reverb tails on or off.
For expressive control, an EXPRESSION / CV input allows manipulation of nearly any parameter. A dedicated footswitch input enables the connection of up to three external footswitches for expanded control options.

MIDI & USB
The Oceans Abyss is also ready for modern studio and stage setups with MIDI In and Out, supporting Program Change (PC), Control Change (CC) over nearly all parameters, and MIDI Clock for seamless synchronization.
A USB-C port will soon unlock further integration with the upcoming EHXport™ app for preset management and more.
With 128 fully customizable presets, musicians can save and recall their most inspiring sound combinations. The pedal operates at a professional 96kHz / 24-bit sample rate for pristine audio quality and comes supplied with a dedicated 9.6VDC / 500mA power supply.
